Simple Design Wins: How to Make Your Social Posts Stand Out (Without Losing Your Mind)
Ever look at your social feed and feel like your posts just disappear into a sea of “look at me!” graphics?

You’re not alone.
It can seem impossible to get noticed, especially as a solo business woman who’d rather not spend all day wrangling text boxes in Canva.
Good news: you don’t need a fancy design degree, or endless hours fiddling with fonts to create scroll-stopping visuals.
Over the years (and many cups of tea), I’ve helped many brilliant women cut the chaos and design graphics that actually get seen.
Want to know my favourite secrets?
Here we go…
1. Give Your Message Some Breathing Space
Your words matter, so let them shine! Instead of crowding every corner with icons and colours, centre your main message on the graphic and leave plenty of space around it.
✨ Quick tip: Try removing just one element from your next Canva design. Notice how much clearer (and more professional) the whole post feels.
2. Stick to Your Brand Colours
Ever wonder why some brands just look pulled together and instantly recognisable? It’s all about colour consistency.
🎨 My tip: Save your brand colours to Canva’s Brand Kit. Using the same shades every time makes everything you post feel polished, even if you whipped it up in five minutes between meetings.
3. Embrace White Space (Don’t Fear the Blank Bits)
Resist the urge to fill every inch. “Whitespace,” or the empty areas in your design, isn’t wasted, it actually helps eyes land where they’re supposed to.
✨ Sometimes, breaking the “pack it all in” habit gives your posts a dose of calm that stands out (in the best way).
4. You Don’t Need to Follow Every Design Rule
Spoiler: most rules are more like gentle suggestions, especially on social media!
If you want to try something off-centre or mix up your layout, go for it. The confidence to be imperfect often makes your brand feel more human and relatable.
I help solo business women feel at home in Canva, no jargon, no overwhelm, just practical support and a few laughs along the way. If you’d like a set of eyes on your next post, or need tips to build your brand kit, just comment below or send me a message.
